Final deposit - Four Day Study Course - 30th September - 3rd October 2019

Renaissance to Regency

This four-day course provides a foundation for the analysis and interpretation of British interior design from the Renaissance to the Regency.

Chronologically organised, visits to historic buildings will highlight the key interiors, architects, designers and movements which demonstrate how the historic house has evolved over the centuries from the reigns of Henry VIII to George IV.  The tours of historic buildings will be accompanied by in-house experts.

We explore the decorative devices employed by great designers and architects from the past and discuss their relevance to interior design in the 21st century.

The interior designer, Caroline Percy, and architectural historian, Oliver Gerrish, will lead the course, assisted by Catherine Fellowes. We will be based at Hotspur House, Caroline's home which is close to Robert Adam's Syon Park.

The tours will include visits to Hampton Court, Ham House, Chiswick House, Strawberry Hill, Syon House and Pitzhanger Manor.

We will start at 10 am at Hotspur House (overground Syon Lane and underground Boston Manor stations - car transfer to and from stations is included) and finish at approximately 5 pm. Parking is available in Syon Park.

Fee: £980 includes lunch and refreshments.

Transport is included in the fee and will be available for travel to the historic houses and to collect and drop off at the local stations of Boston Manor (Piccadilly line) and Syon Lane (overland from Waterloo and Clapham Junction). Parking is available in Syon Park.

A 50% deposit (refundable up to 15th June 2019, non-refundable after that date) is required to secure a place.

The balance to be paid by 15th sept 2019.
