Renaissance to Regency

This four-day course provides a basis for the analysis and interpretation of British interior design from the Renaissance to the Regency period . Chronologically organised,  the tours will highlight key interiors, architects, designers and movements. Visits to historic buildings will be accompanied by in-house experts.

The course provides a foundation in the history and development of the English interior over the centuries and is intended for those who are interested in the decorative arts and interior design.

We will be based at Hotspur House, the home of interior designer Caroline Percy, which is close to Robert Adam’s Syon Park, her family’s London home. Caroline and architectural historian Oliver Gerrish will lead the study course, assisted by Catherine Fellowes. Home cooked lunches will be provided in the comfort of Hotspur House.

The course will include visits Hampton Court, Ham House, Chiswick House, Strawberry Hill, Syon House and Pitzhanger Manor.

Each day begins at 10 am at Hotspur House (overground Syon Lane and underground Boston Manor stations - car transfer to and from stations is included) and finished at 5 pm.

Course price: £980 (includes travel from Hotspur House - collection from local stations overground Syon Lane and underground Boston Manor - lunch and refreshments)

A 50% deposit (refundable up to 15th June 2019, non-refundable after that date) is required to secure a place.

  The balance to be paid by 15th sept 2019.
